Montgomery County MD NOW "ELECTED AMERICAN" WITH MD DELEGATE LILY QI Discussion of Memoir, Voting and Election Reform Virtual | Monday, July 20 | 7 – 8:30 pm (If time, will follow with short chapter meeting.)
Maryland State Delegate Lily Qi will discuss her new memoir, Elected American: From Red China to Blue Maryland, which traces her journey from China’s Cultural Revolution to the Maryland State House and an immigrant community’s political awakening. As the first Chinese immigrant elected to the Maryland State House, Delegate Qi will share her insights on engaging new communities in the democratic process and running culturally competent campaigns, including the urgent need for election reform. This is a story about today’s Montgomery County, the Asian American experience, and the challenge of making democracy work in a rapidly diversifying community.
